Core concepts

Agents, plugins, MCP tools, watchers, EAs, and entitlements explained simply.

Core concepts

Desktop workspace

The Locimens UI is packaged for Windows. Major areas:

  • Overview — MT5-focused dashboard
  • Agents — agent list, chat, marketplace, plugins
  • Data — calendar, market snapshots, history, symbols, LLM usage
  • Charts — symbols, indicators, strategies, drawings

Agents and plugins

A plugin is a folder bundle (plugin.json + optional UI + optional backend). Marketplace installs place agents into your local plugins library. Opening an agent UI usually starts or connects to its process.

MCP (Model Context Protocol)

Agents call tools through a local MCP bridge. Examples include fetching candles, listing positions, placing orders, or querying News Agent. If the bridge is down, tools and many plugin UIs will fail.

Watchers

Watchers are event triggers (price moves, position changes, calendar, and more) that wake agents or refresh context so automation can react without constant polling.

Locimens EA and mailbox

The MetaTrader Expert Advisor writes mailbox / handshake data the bridge reads. Without a healthy EA attachment (when your workflow requires it), live context may be incomplete. See Mailbox & live data.

Entitlements

Your website plan controls which marketplace products you may install and your device / MT5 account limits. Every plan uses the same desktop installer. Desktop refreshes entitlements after sign-in.
